The Best Self-Expelling Robot Vacuum
A self-emptying robot vacuum can be the key to a cleaner, neater home. You can set a robovac to run a regular cleaning routine to eliminate dust pet hairs, lint and surface dirt.
Premium models feature the ability to use smart mapping and navigation that can save time for the robot. They also have features that make your home more allergy-free.
iRobot Roomba j7+

The j7+ from iRobot is a high-end robot vacuum that comes with a self-emptying dust bin. The robot uses iRobot’s Dirt Detect Technology, which detects areas that are dirty on the floor and increases its suction power to remove more debris. It also has a camera to aid in navigation and avoid obstacles. It also can detect pet messes and activate a special cleaning mode.
The j7+ comes with a sleek design that is attractive in any room and is quieter than other self-emptying robotic vacuums we've tested. The internal dustbin of the J7+ is stronger than those of many competitors, and its external dustbin can be easily opened with a lever. The app and virtual assistant setup process took just several minutes, and the robot responded well to voice commands.
We like that the j7+ is able to be scheduled to clean at various dates and times, as well as the fact that it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant. The robot wasn't as good at recognizing voices. Its microphone was able to pick up a lot ambient noise and interfere with voice-activated functions.
The performance on the floor is impressive, collecting 9.35 grams of debris per run. This may seem like a lot but it's enough to keep up with a manual clean by a full-sized vacuum. It's not able to climb over high pile carpets and could get stuck on rug tassels. But overall it's among the top robots for clean flooring.
The iRobot Genius feature is useful because you can create customized floor plans that the j7+ follows. You can schedule the plans to run on autopilot and create a custom timer for when you want the robot to start cleaning. It also comes with floor tracking, cliff sensors as well as a camera to ensure it follows a consistent route around your home and doesn't slip off the steps.
The iRobot J7+ battery will last 86 minutes which is average for robotic vacuums. If it starts running out of power before the task is finished, it will return to its dock to recharge and then resume where it began. The dock can also be capable of automatically emptying the j7+'s internal dustbin this is a great feature that we wish other brands had.
Samsung Jet Bot+
Samsung's sleek-looking Jet Bot+ is one of the most high-tech robot vacuums on the market. It provides excellent filtration, powerful sucking and excellent obstacle avoidance all without making much noise. It can be controlled via an app specifically designed for it, or by using popular virtual assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant.
Connecting the Jet Bot+ to your Wi-Fi network was simple with the app's prompts that guide you through the procedure. You can then utilize the SmartThings app to remotely plan cleaning sessions and keep track of the progress of the device.
The app also includes a map feature to allow you to see the areas that have been cleaned and the areas still needing attention. You can also create 'no go zones' that prevent the robot from entering certain areas or rooms you'd prefer it to stay out of.
The Jet Bot+ is a machine with high-tech features. It is able to detect obstacles and can even identify furniture dimensions, walls and other obstacles using the front camera. Its advanced sensors prevent it from hitting things like charging cables and other objects that could cause secondary damages.
self cleaning robot vacuums is high-tech and can handle various types of debris including pet hair. However, it had a difficult time with the most massive type of debris cereal pieces, which were abnormally large due to being stuck together. It was able to remove the majority of dirt and other debris from hardwood floors. However it did not get an ideal score.
The Samsung Jet Bot+ is a good battery performer and can continue cleaning when it is required. It can also be paused and stopped mid-cleaning by using the smart buttons on its body. The 0.3L dustbin is easy to empty and is fully washable.
Samsung's app is easy to use and comes with a range of options to manage the device. The app lets you create a cleaning schedule as well as select different modes and track the status of the filter. It can also be controlled with voice commands using Bixby Samsung's smart assistant.
Roomba s9+
The s9+ comes with an impressive suite of features that help it stand apart from other robots. Its vSLAM technology uses cameras to map your home, and it will keep the layout for up to 10 cleaning sessions. It also comes with a feature called Perfect Edge, which is designed to ensure that dirt in corners is picked up, even when the robot isn't flush against walls or furniture.
In our tests the robot had a powerful suction which easily removed dust and pet hair. It automatically adjusts the suction to match the flooring it's working on, which is great when you have a variety of floors in your home. This is a feature we've not seen on any other self-emptying robots and it can make a huge difference to how well your vac cleans.
This model also has a hygienic bin that iRobot created to prevent pollen, mold spores, and other allergens from getting back into air. It has a transparent door at the bottom so you can easily see the time to empty it. This is much easier than locating the small hole in the side.
Contrary to earlier Roombas, which used a rear-mounted dustbin, the s9+ moved the dustbin to the top of the unit. It's now easier to remove and access, and also has a bigger capacity.
The s9+ is simple to set up and operate, with the iRobot app guiding you through the procedure step-by-step. It is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and allows you to use voice commands to start, pause, and stop the vacuum.
This robot's navigation is also superb. It rarely required any manual intervention in our tests. It's able of navigating around obstacles like tables and chairs and even work under most low-clearance furniture, thanks to its relatively compact design. It can also be programmed to clean the area of a certain size or to alter your home's floor space using the iRobot app.
Eufy 11s
The Eufy 11s robot vacuum is a great option for those looking for a robovac which can do light cleaning on a daily basis and doesn't include many complicated features. It's also quite quiet, and can run for up to 100 minutes on a charge. However, the 11s is not ideal for all floors, especially if you have high-pile carpeting. It has an main roller brush (which consists of a combination bristles and rubber flanges) and two trispoked side brushes.
You can choose between a variety of options when using the 11s. These include Auto Single Room Spot, and Edge. There's also a manual option, where you can use the direction keys on the remote control to instruct it to move forwards, backwards, left or right.
The 11s is great at collecting large debris and fine dust from floors. However, it has a difficult time to gather small particles such as baking soda. It is also adept in removing hair from pets.
It's also not as intelligent as some other robot vacuums. It relies on bounce navigation instead of more sophisticated mapping software. This means it is able to ping-pong around the floor until the battery runs out and it's not ideal for homes with lots of furniture or that are particularly dusty.
In terms of maintenance, the 11s' dirt compartment is easy to empty and has an open top. The filter is designed to be cleaned weekly and replaced every six months or as often. It isn't easy to locate replacement parts, but the 11s is backed by a one-year warranty and eufy is known for being responsive in the event of issues with their products.
If you're looking for a more sophisticated robot vacuum that is capable of dealing with all kinds of flooring, then I suggest taking a look at the Samsung Powerbot R7040. It is better suited for carpeting with low pile and bare floors and has a larger dustbin, and is less expensive than the more expensive RoboVac 11.
